Moody platform

Canadian Ted Stilson saw my series 2 ‘Racer’ Trexi once and asked me to do a design on his own designer toy platform ‘Moody’. I was honored and made several designs and customs. I’ve send the customs back to Canada and there they’ve seen various galleries.

I’ve dedicated one of these customs to my childhood heroes: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.

Infectious x Mimobot design challenge

I recently found out about the Infectious x Mimobot design challenge. I immediately thought about several designs. I submitted my design today and I hope it get’s approved and voting can begin.

Here’s the design I submitted today… I’m actually not sure if I’m allowed to do several designs, but I just might! I always liked Mimoco’s crossover between designer toys and usb flash drives.

Update! Too bad, this design didn’t make the contest.. Reasonable comments to this were: “The bumps are just in the wrong place to make this really come together.” and “Creative – but it does give her the biggest rib cage in the world!“. I can live with that, next up: T-shirt design contest!

Trexi Series 1, 2 and We All Speak Football

A few years ago PlayImaginative started a competition for their new designer toy format: Trexi. Trexi is a blank figure with a rotating head. My design on the toy was picked to be in several series of the toy.

I send in a couple of designs and they picked one of them to be in Series 1. ‘Trapped in Space’ was the first of 3 Trexi’s I illustrated to be produced.

Apparently, My first design was received so well. PlayImaginative invited me to be in Series 2 as well.. They picked my ‘Racer Trexi’ to be in it.

And if that wasn’t enough.. I was also asked to be in the ‘We All Speak Football’ series by Coca-Cola. This time around I could even design the box. Too bad one of my earlier designs didn’t make it, so I had to make another one in a very short amount of time.

In 2008 I was lucky enough to meet up with PlayImaginative in Singapore. They’ve shown me around there office and the city and we had a great day. If you guys are reading this.. thanks so much. It was an experience

Dot Dot Dash and Digga’z

It’s been published in 2006, but I’m still very proud to be mentioned in the Designer Toys, Action Figures and Character Art book called Dot Dot Dash.

In this book (published by Die Gestalten) you’ll find one of my custom Digga’z and a failed prototype. Digga’z were created by Jacky Hekkelaan to be ‘the first dutch designer toy’. He choose my design to be in the first series. Too bad that the factory making the figures didn’t do a good job on the first batch and Jacky had to pull the plug on the project.

Still, I’m very pleased to be mentioned in a book next to great talented artists like Gary Baseman, Jon Burgerman, Doma, Flying Fortress, Huck Gee, Koa, Mad, Mimic, Moodude, Kenn Munk, Playskewl, Skwak, Touma and many others!

Ow, and there’s also a page with all the Trexi’s in the ‘We All Speak Footbal’ series in which I’m featured. Besides me being in it, it’s an awesome book with a lot of awesome toys and designs. If you see it… buy it!
